BIO


Toronto, CA born composer Adam Hakooz received his masters degree in composition from Codarts University for the Arts, The Netherlands, in 2018 and his bachelors degree in composition and french horn at Wilfrid Laurier University, Canada, in 2016. His principle composition teachers include Peter-Jan Wagemans, René Uijlenhoet, Linda Catlin Smith, Dr. Peter Hatch and Dr. Alexander Rapoport. Adam draws upon influence from the avant-garde era to illustrate the dark energy within his music. Notably, he received the Hartman award in 2018 and has had works performed by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Array ensemble, Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, Residentie Orkest, AKOM ensemble, Penderecki String Quartet, Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony as well as soloist such as José Miñarro Sánchez and Allison Stringer. Adam is currently based in Glasgow as a freelance composer and intends to continue his education at the PhD level in the United Kingdom.
